KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): National Security Advisor (NSA) Mohammad Hanif Atmar on Thursday said political dividedness and corruption remained huge challenges and claimed “among every four insurgents in Afghanistaninfo-icon, one is foreigner.”

Addressing a security seminar of border police unit commanders, Atmar said Afghanistan emerged ‘victorious’ on the battle-field and in global politics, although, the number of militants tripled, but the international community pledged to stand by Afghanistan until terrorist groups were eliminated.

The NSA recalled seven years back, 380,000 Afghan forces fought the war on terror with support of 140,000 foreign boots.

After withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan in 2014, the number of militants tripled but the Afghan forces did not allow them to gain ground.

Atmar did not say how many militant outfits are active in Afghanistan but some officials put their number at 21 fighting against Afghan security forces.

“The international community has made two promises with us -- one to be with Afghanistan until all terrorists are eliminated and second to provide financial and technical support to Afghan security forces,” Atmar said.

He said the worldinfo-icon now recognized terrorism as a triangular ---- terrorist groups, criminal economy and states sponsoring. He said terrorist outfits were not only threat to Afghanistan but to the entire world.

He asked the Ministry of Interior to improve intelligence and detective capacities in order to control casualties and losses.

He assured of equipment to the armed forces and said in the next few days more helicopters would be transferred to Afghanistan.
