President Ghani strongly condemns mosque attack

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Friday strongly condemned a suicide attack on a Shiite mosqueinfo-icon in Kabul, in which five people were killed and 20 others wounded.

The suicide bomber blew himself up outside Hussainia mosque in Qala-i-Fathullah area of Kabul at 2pm when worshippers were leaving the mosque for home after Friday’s prayers.

In a statement from the Presidential Palace, the president said Afghanistaninfo-icon was considered a model of religious harmony in the worldinfo-icon.

He said terrorists should understand that their inhuman and anti-Islam acts would not leave a negative impact on the inter-faith harmony of the Muslim Afghan nation.

Instead, he said, such attacks strengthened the sectarian harmony in Afghanistan.

The president said the people of Afghanistan had rejected terrorists and no country or group could reach their nefarious designs by using violence.

Ghani said the people of Afghanistan would not bow to a small group of terrorists and they would observe the Day of Ashurainfo-icon with religious zeal and in cooperation with security forces.

The president expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of those wounded in the terrorist attack.
