Nepalese can better sense Afghans’ plight: PM

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the people of his south Asian country can better understand the sufferings of Afghans keeping in view their own history.

In a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani in New York on Thursday,  Deuba said his country was committed to peace and stability in Afghanistaninfo-icon, a statement from the Presidential Palace in Kabul said on Friday.

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional cooperation and business relations between the two countries,  the statement said.

The Nepalese premier said economic cooperation between regional countries and transit trade could help bring peace and stability to the region and make people’s lives prosperous.

President Ghani said peace was his countrymen’s basic demand and a stable Afghanistan was in the interest of the region’s economic development.

He said Afghanistan had the chance to become Asia’s economic roundabout and his government wanted to exploit the opportunity for the benefit of his people.
