GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Six Talibaninfo-icon insurgents have been killed and four others injured during a clash with security forces in Andar district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Thursday.

Ghazni acting police chief Col. Mustafa Mayar told Pajhwok Afghan News the rebels stormed security posts in Mirazar and Abduraheem areas of the district on Wednesday night.

The attack sparked a gun battle that left at least six attackers and two policemen dead and four insurgents and one policeman injured.

A resident of Mirazar area, Noorullah, said insurgents captured a security check point and then set it alight.

The Taliban confirmed the fighting. The group’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the fighters attacked security checkpoints in Baraho and Mirazar areas of Andar district.

The insurgents seized a check post while killing four policemen and wounding seven others, Mujahid said, admitting the injuring of only one fighter.
