Kunduz police chief teaches his men Quran for 20 min daily

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Police chief of northern Kunduz province who daily taught the interpretation of Holy Quraninfo-icon to his personnel said police should have some Islamic knowledge besides physical training.

Brig. Gen. Abdul Hameed Hameedi told Pajhwok Afghan News he taught the holy Quran with interpretation to his personnel after noon prayers for 20 minutes daily and the practice put positive impact on the moral and behavior of police force.

The duties and responsibilities of police in the societyinfo-icon demanded that they should be furnished with knowledge and know what their responsibilities were.

He added the purpose of teaching them with the translation and interpretation of Quran was to make them aware of Islamic codes of conduct and other moral related issues.

He said armed militant groups should know that incumbent government was Islamic and they were fighting against an Islamic state and society and urged them to renounce violence and join peace process.

Pajhwok reporter who took part in the Quran teaching session by Hameedi said tens of policemen participated in the programme every day.

Waisuddin Talash, crime branch director, said the participated in the Quran teaching session everyday and termed the step very positive. He said police could enhance their Islamic knowledge through participating in the programme.
