PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A rehabilitation centre was inaugurated on Friday in central Logar province, where nearly 40,000 individuals are said to be drug addicts.

Acting Governor Niaz Mohammad inaugurated the 20-bed facility in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, with a number of government official attending the opening ceremony.

The 13-room hospital had been constructed over half an acre of land at a cost of 16 million afghanis, the governor said, adding the Ministry of Counter-Narcotics had provided funds.

In the last six months, the rehab is the first major project to be inaugurated in the province, a gateway to Kabulinfo-icon. A poppy-free province, Logar receives id="mce_marker" million from the ministry annually.
