3 ALP killed, 2 wounded in Takhar clash

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Three Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel have been killed and two others wounded in Khawaja Ghar district of northeastern Takhar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Mohammad Omar, district’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Talibaninfo-icon stormed ALP check posts in Gortepa area of the district on Monday night.

Three policemen were killed and two others wounded and their post was captured by the Taliban in the attack.

However, he said reinforcement was reached to the area and the security posts overran by Taliban were recaptured.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid claimed capturing 10 security posts in Khwaja Ghar district.

He claimed three policemen were killed and four others wounded as well as some weapons and ammunition belonged to ALP were also seized by Taliban.

Khawaja Ghar is one the unstable districts of Takhar province. It was once fallen to Taliban about two years ago and the rebels were in control of the district for three days.
